Love in Islam is all-encompassing, comprehensive, and sublime. It is not restricted to only one form, interpreted as a romantic attraction between a man and a woman.
.
Islam teaches about loving The Creator; love for fellow human beings, animals, nature, and it even teaches how it is possible to love inanimate beings. It is wrong and even dangerous to confine the broad meaning of love to only one of its personifications.
.
Islam urges its followers to adopt mutual love, affection, and intimacy throughout the year–not just on a specific day of the calendar–and Islam also encourages its followers to verbally express their love to whomever they cherish.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), said:
“When a man loves his brother, he should tell him that he loves him.” [Abu Dawud and At-Tirmithi]
.
Islam is the only religion on the face of the earth that regulates and governs this honourable emotion; how it’s to be used and practised, rather than being manipulated as a way of spreading vice in the false pretence of noble virtue.
